In the early hours of Thursday died at the age of 81 Colombian scientist Solomon Hakim, known for his work in the field of neurosurgery.
Leading NPH doctor described a clinical syndrome known as Hakim.
The doctor is remembered for inventing ventriculoperitoneal bypass valve, used for the treatment of hydrocephalus.
"We left his simplicity, his humility and his greatness in everything he did," said his son Carlos Hakim in dialogue with Caracol Radio.
Solomon Hakim studied music at the Conservatory of Ibague, where he lived in his youth, before studying medicine at the National University and travel to the United States to specialize in neurosurgery at Harvard University and the Lahey Hospital in Boston.
